James and Pippa met through their mutual close friend, Megan, at a pool party at her mom's condo in May 2021. (Fun fact: they actually first met, also at a pool party at Megan's house, in Summer 2014). They spent 7 hours talking in a corner and James even got to meet Pippa's dad very prematurely when she Facetimed him for advice on shooting pool. At the end of the night Pippa asked James for a ride home, only to learn that he had biked to the party (which just made her more intrigued).

It was about two weeks before James worked up the courage to ask Pippa out under the guise of soliciting work advice. They spent the next two months very confused about whether or not the other one was interested in dating. They finally had their first kiss while night paddle boarding on Town Lake.

Three and a half years later, Pippa and James live in East Austin. They have weathered job changes, deaths, and nightly agony produced by two Libras deciding dinner plans. They love to play board games, ride bikes, and camp together. They co-parent two rambunctious, outgoing, and perpetually hungry cats, Max and Monty, who have ensured they can never host a dinner party again. Max and Monty really wish they could attend the wedding, mostly for the roast chicken.
